Itinerary

  • Devrent Valley: Start the day by visiting Devrent Valley, also known as "Imagination Valley", this is the most surreal looking landscape. Your next stop will be Pashabagi, also called Valley of the Monks because Christian hermits chose to locate hermit cells and churches on these symbolic three-headed pinnacles of the Holy Trinity, it is possible to see all the stages in the formation of fairy chimneys in this place.
  • Avanos: Continue to Avanos (Venessa), the pottery center of Cappadocia, this town is located on the banks of the Kizilirmak / Red river. The river gets its name from the red clay it deposits. You can watch potters work using kick wheels, the technique that has remained unchanged for generations.
  • Goreme Open-Air Museum: You will have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the Goreme Open Air Museum. The most important Byzantine cave churches in the world are found in these once remote valleys, where monks and nuns followed monastic life from the 3rd century onwards. Here you can see the best preserved Byzantine cave wall paintings and frescoes from the iconoclastic period to the end of the Seljuk rule. Icons with scenes from the Old and New Testaments above the portraits of the Church Fathers and saints represent the structure of the Byzantine universe.
  • Goreme: Esentepe Panoramic Viewpoint. With a spectacular view of Goreme, see the full view of the Goreme valley and Goreme village: fairy chimneys, rock formations and cave houses. Finish your day with Uchisar Castle. This high rock, the highest point in the Goreme region.
