Itinerary
- The Madu River Boat Safari in Balapitiya is a relaxing journey through one of Sri Lanka’s most scenic wetlands, famous for its mangrove forests, small islands, and rich biodiversity. During the safari (about 1.5–2 hours), you’ll glide along calm waterways, spot birds and wildlife, visit Cinnamon Island to see traditional cinnamon processing, explore the Kothduwa Temple on an island, It’s a perfect mix of nature, culture, and local experiences.
- The Galle Fort, also known as the Dutch Fort, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Built first by the Portuguese in 1588 and later extensively fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century, it beautifully combines European architecture with South Asian traditions.
Today, the fort is a lively heritage city with cobblestone streets, colonial-era buildings, museums, churches, boutique shops, art galleries, and charming cafés. Visitors can stroll along its thick stone ramparts, enjoy panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, and watch stunning sunsets. - Sea Turtle Hatchery: The Sea Turtle Hatchery in Ahungalla is a conservation center dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles along Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Here, you can learn about the different species of turtles found in the island’s waters, see turtle eggs safely incubated in sand until they hatch, and watch baby turtles before they are released into the ocean. The hatchery also cares for injured or disabled turtles, giving them a safe environment to recover.

Details
We will pick you up from Kandy and drive you to Galle. The journey begins with a Madu River Boat Safari (2–2.5 hours), where you will experience a scenic boat ride through mangrove forests, visit Cinnamon Island, and stop at a riverside temple. Afterwards, we will explore the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in colonial charm. To end the tour, we’ll visit the Sea Turtle Hatchery in Ahungalla, where you can learn about turtle conservation and see baby turtles. Once all the attractions are covered, we will drive you back to Kandy.
