    This walking tour aims to change that narrative. We want to show that women were not just objects of art on a canvas - they were its creators and innovators.This 2.5 hour walking tour will take you through the collection at the National Gallery.

    The tour highlights a wide range of themes surrounding Women in Art, their representation in paintings, and the influence their own work had on those who came after.

    Discover the art of 17th Century Artemisia Gentileschi, who was influenced by the naturalistic style of Caravaggio. Find out why she chose to paint biblical narratives about women, and why she portrayed herself as the main character.

    Learn about the work of impressionist artist Berthe Morisot, whose exhibited her art alongside Monet, Degas and Renoir, despite restrictions on her gender.

    Uncover the creative talent and contributions these women and many others made to History of Art.

This walking tour will start at the red telephone box outside the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery.
